⚠️ Educational use only. Caduceus is designed for medical students, residents, and healthcare trainees as a study reference. It is not a clinical decision-support tool. Do not use Caduceus for direct patient care, diagnosis, or treatment decisions. Always consult licensed medical professionals and authoritative clinical references.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Caduceus ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to any part of these terms, you must not use the app.

2. Description of the service

Caduceus is a free educational mobile application providing reference material, clinical simulations, flashcards, and quizzes for medical learners. Content is drawn from public sources including NIH PubMed, openFDA, WHO classifications, and ClinicalTrials.gov.

3. Educational purpose only

Content in Caduceus is provided for educational and informational purposes only. It is intended to support learning, not to replace clinical judgment or licensed medical advice.

You understand and agree that:

  • Caduceus is NOT a medical device.
  • Caduceus does NOT provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
  • You will NOT use Caduceus as a substitute for professional clinical judgment.
  • You will NOT use Caduceus to make decisions about a specific patient's care.
  • Content may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information.
  • Drug dosages, interactions, and recommendations must be verified against authoritative clinical references before any real-world use.

4. No warranty

CADUCEUS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE CONTENT IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, RELIABLE, CURRENT, OR ERROR-FREE.

5. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER OF CADUCEUS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, MEDICAL MALPRACTICE, LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations on liability, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

6. User accounts

You may optionally create an account to save your progress across devices. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information when creating an account
  • Not impersonate another person or provide false credentials
  • Not share your account with others
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

7. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use Caduceus for any unlawful purpose
  • Use Caduceus for clinical decision-making affecting real patients
  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute content from the app for commercial purposes
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app's code
  • Upload content that is offensive, harassing, or infringes on others' rights
  • Automate or script access to the app in ways that disrupt service

8. Intellectual property

The Caduceus app, its design, code, and original editorial content are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Medical reference data sourced from openFDA, NIH, WHO, and ClinicalTrials.gov is public-domain U.S. government data and remains in the public domain.

You retain all rights to content you create within the app, such as custom flashcard decks. By using the app, you grant us a limited license to store and display your user-generated content for the purpose of operating the service.

9. Third-party content

Caduceus displays content fetched from third-party public APIs (NIH, openFDA, WHO, ClinicalTrials.gov). We do not control or guarantee the accuracy of this content. Users should independently verify any clinically relevant information.

10. Termination

You may stop using Caduceus and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms, abuse the service, or engage in fraudulent or harmful behavior.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Significant changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Georgia (the country), without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app shall be resolved in the courts of Georgia.
